Veena’s review of Rock Courtship (Rock Kiss, Book 2) by Nalini Singh
Contemporary Romance published by TKA Distribution 30 Sep 14

This short story is the second in Nalini Singh’s Rock Kiss series and features David and Thea, whom we first met and rooted for in Rock Addiction. Ms. Singh does a great job of delving into Thea’s past that holds her back from wholeheartedly embracing a future with David and bringing the two together. Usually short stories by necessity end up a bit rushed, but this one definitely doesn’t feel that way.

David is head over heels for Thea. He might have given up and moved on a long time ago had her half sister Molly, his fellow band member’s new love, not given him hope. The earlier book gives us glimpses of David’s campaign, which comes full throttle in this novella. He definitely doesn’t waste any time in attempting to get through to Thea.

Thea has a lot of baggage starting from how her biological father treated her mother to the men in her life, barring the man whom she now calls father. Her parents and family are the epitome of what she wants for herself, but can she find that with a man like David, who lives under the media spotlight and has groupies throwing themselves at him.  Fortunately he’s a drummer, knows his mind, and definitely has the patience for the long haul. I love all the gestures he makes to win her over and the memos are just genius.

How David’s friends and family stand by him and help his campaign and how he is able to win his way to Thea and make a place for himself in her heart all make  for a very nice story. I am even more enthralled with the rest of the band members and can’t wait for their stories.

Grade:A

Summary:

What happens when the Gentleman of Rock decides to play dirty?

A drummer for the hottest rock band on the planet, David has a single, powerful weakness: Thea, the band’s publicist and the woman who steals his breath away with her every move.

Only problem is, Thea doesn’t date clients—or musicians. Emotionally scarred by a cheating ex, she’s not about to risk her heart with a man who has groupies buzzing around him like flies. Even if his sexy smile ties her up in knots.

What she doesn’t know is that David is a one-woman man…and he’s madly in love with her. David’s determined to prove he’s worth the risk, and willing to court her, step by exquisite step. Thea’s about to discover just how long and hard this handsome drummer can play.
