Veena’s review of Burned (The Miller Sisters, Book 2) by Sarah Morgan
Contemporary Romance published by Cosmo Red Hot Reads by Harlequin 27 May 14

Ripped, the first story about the Miller sisters, hit all the right notes for me. The close-knit relationship and deep love between the two sisters struck a chord with me, since I too have two sisters with whom I share a strong bond. I couldn’t wait to see Rosie find her own happy ending. Unfortunately, while Rosie and Hunter are great and have some good chemistry between them, this book just does not hit the same chords within me as the earlier one did.

Rosie Miller has never forgotten her first lover, Hunter Black, and no other boyfriend since has ever measured up to him. Suddenly he’s back in her life – rich, successful, the new owner of the martial arts studio where she works. Does he really want to pick up the threads of their relationship or is that just wistful imagination on Rosie’s part? Clearly the chemistry is burning hot and they seem to go up in flames every time they come near each other.

Is passion sufficient for a long lasting relationship? Hunter had bedazzled Rosie at a vulnerable age, followed it up by becoming her first lover at eighteen and then walked away from her without a backward glance. Can Rosie ever feel secure that history won’t repeat itself? Rosie had never questioned what lay beneath Hunter’s surface, but now a mature Rosie is starting to look beneath the rich and successful façade to his baggage and vulnerability. Has Rosie left it too late to forge a meaningful connection again with him that will survive the test of time?

While there are some sweet, tender moments between the two sisters as they look out for each other and hot erotic moments between Hunter and Rosie, the book left me wanting.

Grade: C
