Book CoverVeena’s review of Hunter Reborn (Moon Shifters, Book 5) by Katie Reus
Paranormal Romance published by Signet Books 03 Feb 15

A few years ago I was at a book convention when I was introduced to Ms. Reus’s werewolves particularly the Armstrong Cordona pack. They recently came back on my radar screen and I’m pleased to continue this series. I particularly enjoy the mystery and suspense aspect of these stories as much as I enjoy the paranormal. This book picks up where the last left off, when the pack discovered that vampires were distributing tainted blood and preying on pregnant werewolves. As they go in search of the culprits, Adrian finds his long-lost, believed-to-be-dead bond mate. However, all is not well in this paradise because it seems that Larissa has no recollection of her bonding with Adrian, nor is there any explanation for how their mating bond was severed. It’s an explosive story definitely worth reading to find the truth.

The story starts off with a bang with a foray to the vampire night club which goes horribly wrong. A drugged-out-of-his-mind vampire attacks one of the pack members and is killed for his trouble. The pack is barely assimilating this incident when Adrian discovers his long-lost bond mate and it is definitely not a happy occasion. Not only does she not remember their bonding, but her version of the truth is very different from “The Truth.”

The pacing in this story is wonderful as the story develops quickly, bringing in the vampire council and introducing rogue vampire elements allied with witches. What is the truth behind Larissa’s story? Unfortunately, she can’t remember, but it seems she holds Adrian responsible for decimating her family in Europe. She is so certain of her version of the truth that it gave me pause for a few seconds.

Fortunately his pack holds firm around Adrian and offers him their full support as he and Larissa chase down the leads and try to get to the truth behind what happened to her and her family. They discover a monster who not only has a lot of blood on his hands but is aligned with a greater evil that spills a lot more innocent blood.

In the midst of all this doom and gloom, Teresa and Ryan appear to sort out their relationship and work their way toward their own bonding and becoming a family. I just love the depth of love and friendship between the pack mates and what great leaders Ana and Conor make.

I am quite interested to see how this series develop now that fae and vampires bonded to members of the pack.
