In many ways this is a typical Cinderella story featuring an innocent who works several jobs to make ends meet, until she meets up with a handsome Greek billionaire who changes her life forever. What makes this story stand out is the sparkling repartee between the two as they meet and romance. I couldn’t resist reading aloud some of the witty dialogue to my travelling companions during my recent vacation, which had our fellow companions staring at us as we convulsed in laughter. At least two of my traveling companions and people around us asked for the name of the book and added it to their MUST-read list just from the snatches of dialogue they heard.
Lily Rose is a typical naïve innocent who’s slaving at several jobs during her summer in Greece. One of these happens to be cleaning houses. Her disgruntled approach to all the various knobs and water-spouting devices in the shower of her ultra-rich Greek boss is hilarious, especially when he finds her soaked in his shower when he comes into the house unexpectedly. And right then I knew I was in for a treat.
Her naivety and innocence is irresistible to the jaded and autocratic billionaire, who’s never encountered the combination of beauty, brains, and do good. Pretty soon she’s accompanying him to his father’s wedding and is digging into his heart and making a place for herself in his and his father’s life.
I enjoy Ms. Morgan’s writing style, but this one is definitely a keeper. I can’t wait to dig into her new Puffin Island series, which this one is a precursor to.
