Sandy M’s review of Kissing Kris Kringle (Secret Santas Holiday, Book 1) by Erin Quinn
Contemporary Paranormal Romance novella published by Lucky Me Publisher 3 Nov 14

What delightful Christmas story this is by Erin Quinn. North Pole, Maine is having a bit of a hard time this Christmas. It takes the miracle of the holiday season for things to turn around for the residents who have been suffering economically and some romantically over the past year or so. Magic is in the air, and you feel it on every page of this wonderfully written novella.

Kris Kringle is the opposite of his namesake – he hates Christmas. It is with good reason, so instead of celebrating the usual way, Kris parties a bit too hard one night with his buddies. Awakening the next morning, he finds a Santa suit and the requisite bag and an adorable puppy. All the result of the typical hangover? You’d think, but Kris quickly learns if he doesn’t wear the suit, he doesn’t leave his house. So off he goes dressed just like Santa, and along the way he mysteriously picks up the jolly old soul’s famous booming laugh and other traits.

Holly is the woman Kris has always loved, but nothing ever happened between them. She married, had a child, divorced, and is now raising her daughter alone while trying to make the family Christmas store a success once again. Kris makes his way to her department store where he takes the Santa seat just outside, and suddenly kids and their families are lined up to tell him what they want for Christmas. Thus begins the turnaround this North Pole has needed to make the holidays what they should be for this quaint little town, as well as new outlooks for the main characters.

This also leads to Kris and Holly facing their feelings for each other, despite Holly’s fear Kris wants only a good time for now and not a future with a ready-made family. But something more than a Santa suit has happened to Kris, and it’s up to him to convince this beautiful woman he’s sincere and wants nothing more than a life with her and her little girl. While there are those few serious moments between Kris and Holly, this story is filled with the fun that should be had during the Christmas holidays. A lot of that has to do with the names of the characters and their interactions. There’s also Rudy, Vixen, Cupid, Nick and a few others.

Be sure to pick this book up. Not only will you have heaps of amusement, but you’ll be helping innumerable four-legged creatures this season. Ms. Quinn is donating all of the proceeds from this book to The Animal Welfare League, “an amazing organization dedicated to saving animals’ lives and working to improve the way they are treated and regarded by society.”

Summary:

Kris Kringle is just an average guy living in the tiny town of North Pole, Maine where Christmas isn’t just a holiday—it’s a way of life. But not for Kris. He might be named after the big guy in red, but Kris is more Scrooge than Santa. Until he wakes up from a night of partying with his friends to find himself in possession of a Santa suit, a toy bag and a puppy. Kris soon discovers that he’s been relegated to Santa’s naughty list and there’s only one way to get his name removed….put on the suit and spread some cheer.

Lucky for Kris every cloud has a silver snowflake and his quest to get off that list lands him in the arms of the woman he’s been lusting after for years.
