Veena’s review of Rock Addiction (Rock Kiss, Book 1) by Nalini Singh
Contemporary Romance published by TKA Distribution 09 Sep 14

It’s so easy to forget in the action and adventure of her currently running series how strong a talent Ms. Singh has in creating rich three-dimensional characters and building emotional relationships not just between the main protagonists but also all the secondary characters in her stories. While this story has its share of angst, it is essentially a beautiful love story between two characters who have their share of baggage but who come from two very different places: one who lives his life in the media and one who hides away in the shadows – as far away from the media as possible. Can they face their private nemesis and find their way to building a rock solid relationship? Will their love flourish in the bright lights of the world that Fox lives in? I fell in love with Fox and Molly and their friends and family and can’t wait to see them each find their very own romance.

It’s chance that brings Molly into Zachary Fox’s milieu. It’s her honest, open wholesomeness that appeals to this rock star, who has groupies throwing themselves at him all the time. I love his moves as he quickly works his way into Molly’s car and then her bed and manages to stay there for the duration of his time in New Zealand. He just thoroughly steals my heart with his bad-boy personality and soft heart.

Molly is the most honest thing to happen to Fox and his band members and close friends. These guys, who have more money than they know what to do with, hunger for the touch of real caring that Molly brings to their lives with her unconcealed warmth and openness. Her relationship with Fox proceeds with leaps and bounds, the author doing a great job of adding spice to their loving.

There are so many feel-good moments as Fox and Molly prove how well they know the other and prove their love and loyalty in so many ways to each other throughout the story. Ms. Singh brings alive the pressure of performing and living in a goldfish bowl that the truly famous are subjected to all the time, never knowing who to trust since most relationships are about what the other party can get out of them, so much so that even their bedrooms are not sacred and secure.

This is a nice, uncomplicated love story with no thrills and adventure and a true showcase for the author’s talent.

Grade: A

Summary:

A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk…

Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media’s harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.

A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that’s all it was meant to be…

Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he’ll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn’t only her body that’s become addicted to Fox, but her heart…
