Veena’s review of The Rome Affair (House of Steele, Book 3) by  Addison Fox
Romantic Suspense published by Harlequin 01 Mar 14

I find this to be an excellent story about love and attraction hidden under the layers of business competition, wrapped inside an excellent suspense. Being set in Rome, which is one of my favorite cities in the world, just makes it that much more enjoyable for me.

Jack Andrews and Kensington Steele are like movie-star-perfect characters making each other’s hearts thrill in secret. On the surface they are adversaries vying for the same business more often than not, until the one assignment in Rome which Jack wins but needs Kensington’s help to execute. Clearly the romance is inevitable, since proximity is going to force all those hidden feelings out in the open, but the thrills and chills are an added bonus.

There’s obviously something dirty going on at the vineyard outside Rome. Some of the people from the village have turned up dead. In their cover as part of the security detail assigned to their chief suspect, Jack and Kensington are going to uncover the plot and identify the bad guys and win fame and glory for both their security firms. Things are rarely that simple. Their off-the-charts chemistry from the get-go is a complication, which leads them to be exposed early on. As the body count mounts, they are both in the cross hairs of the killer who has a lot vested in keeping his secrets.

This is a fast-paced thriller with a well-maintained suspense and excellent romance. I will be going back to look for the other books in the series.

Grade:A
