Veena’s review of What the Bride Didn’t Know by Kelly Hunter
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequinn Kiss 01 Nov 13

Trig Sinclair and Lena West have been in love since their teens, but neither has declared their feelings to the other. On a mission in Istanbul, Lena is injured and left with amnesia. Believing they’re married and on their honeymoon removes all of Lena’s inhibitions, and thereupon ensues an interesting tug of war as Trig retreats and Lena advances. Well, the end result is pretty predictable but fun nonetheless in the reading.
Lena is one of four siblings, all in the genius category. No slouch herself, she has struggled all her life to keep up with her siblings, be it in extreme sports or in academics. Trig, being her brother’s best friend, is a part of the family and treated as such by all the siblings.

Poor Trig has loved Lena since he first came across her struggling with a special credit trigonometry exercise for school. Together they’ve competed in every extreme sport and finally end up as partners in the Australian Special Ops. And then it all goes wrong on a mission. Lena is severely injured and it’s only Trig’s refusal to let her die that saves her life, and now after more than a year of intense therapy and Trig’s unwavering support, she’s finally on her feet, unsteady as she might be.

Determined to rescue her brother or at least find out what’s going on with him, she insists on going to Istanbul with the faithful Trig by her side. Injured again and suffering from amnesia, she believes that she and Trig final havely declared their secret love and consummated their relationship. Determined to bring down the barriers between them, she sets out to seduce Trig. Poor Trig knows that once Lena recovers her memory, she’ll never forgive him for taking advantage, but he’s helpless in the face of the temptress who’s tempted him all his life.

I enjoyed the story. It’s light, fun, predictable, and a very pleasant way to pass time.

Grade: A

Summary:

Shh…it’s a secret!

Special ops expert Trig Sinclair is a man’s man, and that means he knows the cardinal rule of the bro code—no matter how dynamite Lena West is, as his best friend’s younger sister, she’s strictly off-limits!

But when a secret mission to Istanbul sees Lena and Trig pretending to be married (and sharing a bed!), he finds himself in a whole new world of sweet torture…. But if Trig thinks playing the honor-bound hero is tough, it’s got nothing on how Lena feels when she discovers what her “groom” is really hiding….
