Book CoverVeena’s review of Bridal Armor(Colby Agency – The Specialists) by Debra Webb
Romantic Suspense published by Harlequin Intrigue 01 Sep 13

Thomas Casey landed safely in Denver in the middle of a freak snow storm. Shortly after, he vanishes like he never arrived at the airport. Is there foul play involved in his disappearance? It’s hard to imagine that anyone could get a drop on him, given his long and successful career running covert operations for the CIA.

Actually, he’s intercepted at the airport by an old friend. Johara is someone who had once worked closely with him, the closest thing to a girlfriend that someone in covert operations could possibly have. Is there foul play involved? His friends and family know he can take care of himself, but its not a good sign that he’s dropped off the grid and hasn’t shown up at the lodge where he’s to give away his niece.

I have not read other books in the series, but it is clear, as we meet the cast of characters assembled in the remote lodge where the wedding is to occur, that there’s a lot of history in the group – actually 50 books worth of history. I am sorry that this series has been such a well-hidden secret from me, but on the plus side I now get to add 50 new books to my to-be-read pile.

As his best friend, Lucas, uses his contacts to figure out what happened to Thomas and tries to keep his friend’s niece calm, the suspense mounts. I thoroughly enjoyed this fast-paced story as Thomas and his companion try to stay alive and one step ahead of their enemies.

Romance is something Thomas had walked away from many years ago, but now older and wiser, perhaps fate has given him a second chance. I don’t want to write the review that spoils the story for the readers out there, so I will let you discover what happens and how it unfolds by reading the book.

Grade:B

Summary:

Someone was out to get Thomas Casey. His profession had taught him to trust no one. So when Johara di Rossi abducted him on his way to his beloved niece’s wedding, Thomas assumed the worst—despite their intimate history.

Though attachments made him vulnerable, Thomas was haunted by regret for walking away from Jo years ago. No other woman had stirred such intense desire in him. Now, snowbound in an isolated cabin, with a determined enemy from his past closing in, suspicion begins to melt away as the embers of their passion reignite.
