Over at DA, Malle Vallik, the spokesperson for Harlequin Horizons has said that the author gets a royalty of 50% net.

I dunno…I kinda like the idea of having one house completely dedicated to the sale of nothing but overpriced, fugly trade-sized versions of rejected manuscripts. Makes it easier to avoid them, y’know? LOL

Thanks Lynne. Now I have to wade through that 200+ comment thread over at SB Pretty much what you said – I don’t have a lot else to add, other than I hate it when my job gets harder. I spend a fair amount of time trying to convince colleagues that romance is a vibrant genre full of wonderful writing and characterizations – and yes, Harlequin publishes many “good” stories. Then they get in bed with this venture – which, um yeah, I really dislike. I’ll just leave it at that.
