Jane – that is SUCH a hard question to answer, because there are so many and I know I’ll leave some out. With historicals alone, just a few favorites are Eloisa James, Julia Quinn, Teresa Medeiros, Lisa Kleypas, Elizabeth Hoyt, Loretta Chase, on and on… In terms of newer authors, I love Victoria Dahl (Just saw the ONE WEEK AS LOVERS review on this site–I loved that book SOOOO much. so. much.), Anna Campbell, Sherry Thomas, Meredith Duran, Jennifer Haymore. And starting in October, remember this name: Courtney Milan. She is sure to be a huge star. Also, Sara Lindsey in 2010, and…oh, man, I have so many good friends who are also great historical writers debuting in 2010. Mariska thank you! But I have to correct that – I did not have all three books written when I sold my first. Just the first one, and part of the second. All told, it took me something like 19 months to write all three. Ballantine just waited to publish them once they were all done, so they could be back-to-back. Which is soooo cool for a debut author. I’m so lucky.
