Marie,

Thank you!

Maya M.,

Heh. I look with envy at other writers who not only produce more manuscripts faster, but blog regularly too, like Carolyn Jewel and Courtney Milan.

Fedora,

LOL, I like your friends already. I hope you enjoy NQAH when you get to it.

LLL,

Thank you! I hope you will enjoy NQAH as well. I would say those two have even more stuff to work through than the H/H from PA and D. :-)

Caffey,

I don't know how I overlooked your comment last time, must not have been properly awake yet! My favorite research site is Google Books. The only threesome scenario I can ever entertain is with the Google guys. :-)

Have thoroughly enjoyed Private Arrangements and Delicious. Must say that your characters really must work through much in order to reach a happy ending. But I find myself completely submerged in your stories and love seeing the emotional journey of your heroes and heroines.

LOL! Thanks for the terrific interview and excerpt! I've been hearing such good things about your latest from my friends with excellent book taste--definitely have to read it for myself! And hee! I'm definitely hooked to reading other people's blogs, though I haven't gotten around to starting one myself!

Ah, blogitis, a common malady. Happily shared and bemoaned by all procrastinators - yet some produce manuscripts in spite of it while others only manage blogposts. *koff, koff*

Lots of whipcracking going on in the Thomas writing process! It seems to be working, which is of course the ultimate test.

And: Mr. Impossible! How I adore it! My first read-through was filled with anxiety about how the Egyptian characters would be handled but I ended on a sigh of relief, and then read it all over again.

Oops. Time got away from me!

We are on vacation right now on Oahu, on what I think is only our third family vacation ever--visiting relatives don't count. :-) There is a five-hour time difference b/t Hawaii and Texas. Yesterday morning I had connectivity issues with the hotel wifi, so I managed to check in some time around noon. Then I thought I'd check in again in the evening. But evenings are midnight in TX and we'd been up since 5:30 and we came back from dinner and just stumbled into bed.

Now it's 6:50 in the morning, I'm sitting on my balcony overlooking the north shore, and watching the blue, blue Pacific and wondering why the Gulf of Mexico can't be this color. ;-) I was born in a place that was hills lined up against the ocean, and I so miss this combination.

Again, thank you everyone for the kind words.

Bridget,

Thank you.

Maureen,

I'm a practical mom myself. And you bet absolutely I'm going to push my kids to get useful degrees. :-)

Azteclady,

You are a tough but fair-minded reader. I look forward to seeing what you make of NQAH.

Kammie,

Every author hopes she writes page turners. I myself am an impatient and easily bored reader, so I do what I can to write stuff that would suck ME in and would keep me in the book.

Pam P,

Thank you! Though I'm beginning to think people should just read the original Mr. Impossible again! :-)

Crystal GB,

I do think the cover is rather accurate. She does look a bit surprised at what he's doing. :-)

Kim,

Hi. All the overhauls means that I handed in my manuscript this time at 30k words for my editor to read. And yes, she has major suggestions and we will be implementing some substantial changes at this point. I'm edited hard, y'all. :-)

I haven't read the Lady Julia Grey book but I can hardly take credit for the "exotic" locations trend. In mysteries, the exotic location has never been a draw back. I'm a fan of Laurie R. King's Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series, and she has written books set in the Himalayas and the Holy Land, among others. And if anyone is to be credited for bring back India in the spotlight, it has to be Meredith Duran, with her Duke of Shadows.

Frankly I tried my best not to set NQAH in India, because I have no desire to ever have the facts of my life in my books--I'm married to an Indian so I would normally not write anything directly India or Indian! But in the end I gave the North-West Frontier a pass because it is in Pakistan today and it is so far away from my husband's southern ancestral land that he knows nothing about it. :-)

I spoke to you on your blog tour about NQaH, so I have a different question. You've done major rewrites on your last three books. Has that process taught you anything useful that applies to your current work-in-progress or do you worry that you'll always be prone to overhauling your manuscripts?

Also, have you read any of Deanna Raybourne's Lady Julia Grey books? These are historical romantic mysteries set in England around 1880. The next book, however, takes place in India. It looks like you've started a trend with exotic locations.

Finally, best wishes on NQaH and good luck at RWA.

Hi Sherry, I loved Mr. Impossible and will be anticipating your version. I''m a big fan of your stories, flashbacks and all.

No need to enter me in contest since I've already enjoyed this one and now waiting for the next.

Hi Sherry! I too read your beautiful review too here at the site! I loved the first book that I got to read! So a bit catching up for me to do! Thank you for the huge peek into Bryony and Leo! After reading your quick answers too, I'm craving chocolate! I've never seen The Painted Veil. I rarely watch movies but love those set historically! You have a favorite site to use for research?

Great reading all this of yours Sherry!

Enjoyed reading about your story and the interview. Some great questions and answers there. I just love the dialog posted above. Oh, and your description of Leo and Bryony. Interesting mix. I bet it makes for a page turner.

Hi Sherry,
I like your description of your practical mom because with one kid in college and one a junior in high school I think they would describe me the same way. Congratulations on the new book. Great excerpt with a lot of tension.

And big hi to everybody in the comment thread! And thank you for all the kind words.

Cindy W., just between the two of us, I totally had the quivers for Ed Norton after The Painted Veil. :-)
