Liviania -- Thanks for the fantasy recommendations. I'll check them out. Hobb is one of those folks I've always meant to read but just haven't gotten around to yet. May have to change that ...

I know Pat (of the Fantasy Hotlist) talks this series up as do other bloggers, but I haven't seen much (if any) in store advertising for it. However, I really enjoyed the first two.

If you're looking for good fantasy . . . have you read Robin Hobb's work? If not, start with Assassin's Apprentice.

Lynn Flewelling is also a good one - her Nightrunner books are fantasy adventure-ish, and she also wrote a trilogy in the past of the same world that's much darker fantasy.

Both of those are epic fantasy type, mostly. I've been reading more of that than single title. If you do want more of a single title type, Patricia Briggs' traditional fantasy is excellent (particularly Dragon Bones and its sequel).

Don't have many fantasy recs right now because I've been in a SF reading rut. ^_^ Good, but it puts me out of the fantasy mindset.
