I didn’t hate it, but I couldn’t finish it either.

I just found the execution of the changing POVs too poor to continue reading. I like 1st person POVs and I’ve enjoyed books that alternate 1st and 3rd person perspectives, but this one… I felt like I was reading really bad fanfic (not to slam fanfiction as a whole, because there’s some great stuff out there that’s a lot better than this book), the way it would switch from Philly’s 1st person to Roman in 3rd to another character in 3rd, all within the same chapter. It came across, to me, anyway, as lazy and careless.

Hey Sybil.. I love the Blaze line. I have a subscription I’m that much of a junkie and Cara Summers is the only author I haven’t finished. I don’t usually trash books but man, this just rubbed me the wrong way. Fav Blaze authors for me are Sarah Mayberry, Kathleen O’Reilly and Kate Hoffman. For me these guys have always delivered. Sarah Mayberry in particular is the Queen of Blaze..for me!

Hi Liviania – I think the other book of Cara’s I read was called ‘A Sexy Time Of It’ and was about time-tavelling serial killer. Normally that’s off-the-wall enough to delight me, but there’s just something about Cara’s work I can’t get into. It’s a shame really but you can’t like everyone.

And can I just say thanks, I find it really difficult to find category reviews. I think it’s great you guys indulge!

I’ll admit the beginning took me awhile to get through, but as I said, I actually enjoyed the mystery. If more focus hadn’t shifted to the mystery from the romance I probably wouldn’t have liked it enough to want to read another Cara Summers.

Which was the other Summers that you tried?

I haven’t read it but I do like Blaze. Any you would rec or is it a line that generally doesn’t work for you?

Can I say that I hated this book? It was a total and complete DNF. Utter rubbish from start to finish.

It’s the second Cara Summers I have read and the second Cara Summers I have hated. Never going there again.
