We have a few pages on <a href="http://goodbadandunread.com/index.php?s=Shomi" rel="nofollow">Shomi</a>, still working on fixing the smartquotes... sorry :(

It will tell you a bit about the line. Give you a link to the Shomi site, there are guest post from the three who debut Shomi. And a few reviews...

Thanks for the clarification, Marianne. I tried looking into Shomi more, but only got a vague blurb. Right now I have it firmly categorized as being related to anime/manga.
... Which is making a mess in my head because I'm thinking Wolverine crossed with... Miaka Y?ki (only a lot more badass).

Hey Limecello and all,

The razors are actually retractable. So no worries about her cutting herself up accidentally. And as for the title, "razor girl", it's an old cyberpunk term first introduced by William Gibson, father of the genre, in his classic novel Neuromancer. A razor girl is sort of a cybernetic ninja -- a human girl enhanced with mech parts. In my story, Molly's father is obsessed with the novel and wants to build himself a real life razor girl. He feels it's the only way to give his daughter the protection she needs to survive the zombie apocalypse.

If anyone's interested, there's a <a href="http://project.cyberpunk.ru/idb/genre_and_gender_in_cyberpunk_fiction.html" rel="nofollow">good article on Razor Girls</a> by Lauraine Leblanc, who has a doctorate in Women's Studies from Emory.

Oh, and yes, she's 21. The Shomi heroines are usually on the young side. :)

Thanks for reading!

This was a very "!!!" excerpt for me - as in nonstop action no time to catch your breath!
I feel bad, but the blurb was so distracting to me. 21? Hm. [And I feel justified in saying/thinking that because I'm definitely on the closer end.] Also the razor tipped nails? That's got to be really annoying. She's probably cut her palms to ribbons, not to mention anything she touches. And do they grow back? Does she have to sharpen her nails like cats? Get a scratching post or file them down?
Also the title immediately brought horrible connotations of high school girls and cutting.
... Yes it's finals time.
